When budget cuts threatened the arts, science, math and technology programs at Melrose Elementary school in California its students' parents decided to stand up and be heard. They need money, but instead of the typical fundraisers they decided to create a public service announcement to educate the public about the budgetary threats to public school funding. This is a school that is really working on reforming education and not just meeting the standards, but exceeding them. But despite their successes they have to lose a quarter of their teaching staff to meet the budget cuts in the state of California.
It makes me sick because these kids are our future. They are the ones who could make America a great country again but we are just sitting back and letting this happen.
Please take a moment to see what these parents did to stand up and be heard, and more importantly ask for help. Pass the video along. Help them to be heard!
